George Gallate

George has extensive experience in building and leading high-performing global and regional networks, agencies and teams. Through his career, he has focused on client success and growth. He is keenly interested in the intersection of content, technology and media, and the use of data to drive communication and prove ROI.

Following the sale of RKG to Merkle, George served as the performance marketing and data agency’s CMO for 3 years. Under George’s leadership, Merkle’s marketing team, with a constant budget, almost tripled the number of sales qualified leads, tripled traffic to their website, launched a leading social advocacy program and won sixteen American Business Awards, including the Grand Stevie for Marketing and a Silver for Marketing Executive of the year.

Previously, George served as CEO at RKG, at the time the world’s largest independent search agency. During the two years of George’s leadership, the company doubled in size and generated four times the profit previously realized. George negotiated the sale of RKG to Merkle in July 2014.

Prior to RKG, George spent almost 27 years at Havas/Euro RSCG, ultimately serving as Global Chairman of Havas Digital from 2006 to 2012. Before that role, George operated as the Global CEO of Havas Digital, a network he had formed and led since 1997. During this time, George integrated more than 50 distinct marketing services agencies into a single, digital worldwide network, Euro RSCG 4D. As the result of the organic growth and acquisitions he led, and the wider growth framework he created, Adweek ranked Euro RSCG 4D (subsequently renamed Havas Digital) the largest global digital network for five years in a row.

From 2005 through 2008, George also served as Havas’ Regional CEO for Asia Pacific, India and the Middle East, with P&L responsibility for 28 offices and more than 1,800 staff. Using a hands-on approach to new business and client retention, George returned the region to growth and profitability, ultimately increasing revenue by more than 30% and moving from a loss to profit, as well as providing the framework for re-establishing the Asian network’s creative reputation. George was based in Shanghai for this role.

George initially joined Havas from Ogilvy Direct in 1986, based in Australia. He co-founded one of Havas’ first digital agencies in 1995. George became Joint Managing Partner of Havas Australia and Managing Director of Havas Direct prior to transferring to Singapore as Regional Director.

George’s experience spans multiple client categories, and he enjoys extensive cross-media experience, including seven years leadership of the global advertising, digital and marketing services of Intel. During George’s stewardship, Havas’ annual Intel revenue tripled, and the Intel business evolved from primarily advertising, to a multi-discipline, full service client.

George also, pitched, won and led the Dell account across Asia Pacific, as well as pitched, won and led the global digital and social business of IBM. Additional B2C experience includes Hershey’s, Volvo, Jaguar, National Australia Bank, Samsung, ASUS, Novartis, 1-800-Flowers, JetBlue, Hyatt and Sheraton.

George is an accomplished industry speaker, thought leader and innovator. He co-presented the keynote, “Digital – Data – Integration” at the Cannes International Advertising Festival in 2001, served as President of the Cannes CyberLion Jury in 2002, and spoke again at the festival in 2010 with IBM on Social and B2B. He has spoken or presented keynote addresses at conferences in nineteen countries, and judged on many international advertising festival juries.
